Internet Usage Notice

March 13, 2013

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We are fortunate to have high speed internet at the school which gives students access to the web for research, etc. Because of the access to the internet, students have been bringing their personal I-pads, I-pods, and other wireless devices to school. Until recently this has not been an issue, but with more students bringing these items we are now experiencing internet problems.

Because of all the personal wireless devices being used by students our CAL wireless network access is being blocked (overloaded). Simply, the wireless network is being utilized so much by non-school wireless devices the school computers are either running at a snail's pace or not at all. This change is necessary so we can effectively and efficiently conduct required student, teacher and administrative school business on our wireless computer network.

In light of this development, we will lockout all personal (non-school owned) wireless devices and only allow students on the internet while using district-owned computers. This will go into effect starting Friday, March 15th. We are confident this will free up the wireless network for the students and teachers that have reason to be on the internet for research, grading, etc. If you have any questions please call me at the high school.
